My Reptile Interests
|

My husband started my addiction to corn snakes in 1995 when he brought home a wc normal hatchling. Since then, my collection has grown, averaging between 80-100 snakes, depending upon how many keeper hatchlings I have at the time. I do tend to keep more initially than I should, but who doesn't! Besides the great enjoyment I get from breeding the various morphs and anxiously awaiting to see what hatches out of the eggs, photographing my collection gives me the most pleasure.

For fun outside of reptiles? Is there such a thing? There is my family, of course, and I used to create artwork, colored pencil being my favorite medium, but I no longer have the free time to do that (getting married and children will do that) so I now create my art with photographs instead of pencil and paper. Wildlife and nature have always been my favorite subjects and still are.

I have been a Certified Veterinary Technician since 1983 with a hiatus from working directly in an animal hospital from 1989 to 1995 when I was employed at Weeki Wachee Springs attraction, performing in exotic and bird of prey shows, training those birds, and caring for injured wildlife in their rehabilitation center. I loved that job but was glad to leave before the state acquired the attraction and closed down the entire section I was in. I much prefer remembering all the birds as they were in the shows versus being sold or killed.
