My Reptile Interests
|
|
My first love was iguanids. I have fostered and kept green iguanas for years, but my current large lizard is Eddie, a gorgeous high-Cuban-percentage Lewisi. I am also a huge fan of BCC and BCI boas, as well as the arboreal boas and vipers, though I currently only keep BCI.
The current collection is rounded out by a few arboreal tarantula slings, my boyfriend's first 'chosen reptile' who is a bearded dragon named Winchester, and a dubia colony as well as a slowly acclimating group of red runner roaches.
I have fostered everything from Nile monitors to red-eyed tree frogs and dentrobates to WC yellow anacondas and various common species, and have found something to enjoy in every species.
I spent a month in Costa Rica for the sole purpose of field herping, and my schooling is focused on conservation biology and herpetology. I would love to do field research in the future, and am also interested in captive propagation of rare cyclura and currently threatened species.
