The only people I've talked to that have been bitten are a couple of zoo handlers in Europe. There are no recorded bites in North America, so far as I've heard. The European handlers informed me that it was much like a bee sting in that there is only swelling at the site of the bite, and it hurts about the same. I've researched everything that has been learned about Beaked-snake venom, and I can assure you it is harmless to people. Works great on rodents though!!! Though I've not had the occasion to feed mine live. But the research indicates that the venom is highly specific to small mammals.

Really stunning. I've heard that the beaked snakes tolerate handling well, but the rear-fanged thing makes me a little nervous. Have you heard of any bites?
