Our resident Gaboon Viper with an interesting story

We assist with a number of venomous reptile confiscations and rescues. This beautiful female gaboon viper was found in a dumpster near Chicago's O'Hare Airport. Can you imagine?! This poor creature was covered in paint laquor/thinner, debris embedded into her side and was very dehydrated and emaciated. In time, though, my wonderful staff at the WDC and I were able to bring this animal back to perfect health. She was just moved into a new exhibit and she looks spectacular. Bryan Suson, Head Keeper, is in charge of this particular animal on his run.

It is with great sadness that I have to announce that "Gabby" passed away a week ago. Upon necropsy it was discovered that this was a very, very old snake and she died peacefully in her sleep. We all shed a few tears that day and she is sorely missed but I'm glad that we could at least give her a good life for the time she was with us.

Sad story man but great ending. A gabby is like #2 on my list of extreme hots.
