Animal Name: Courtney
Species: Dumeril's Boa
Acrantophis dumerili
Sex: Male
Birthdate: 8/1/2004
Comments: Well, I thought he was a girl, and I can't quite bring myself to rename him. Back when I first got him, I asked my neighbor's kid to come up with a name for "her." Years later I figured out my boa was really a male... and I was looking at information about names and found that apparently "Courtney" is a French name, and it is supposed to be for a man! No need to rename him now. :) How fitting for a Dum to have a French name (since the species is named for a Frenchman).

"Court" is my buddy. This guy is awesome! He is my clean-up feeder, and has almost never refused a meal. He even eats when he is in shed... if he ever does refuse a food item, he makes me worry about the quality of the food item! He is great in presentations, and is just so much fun to handle! This is the biggest snake I have ever owned (by weight - I had a Taiwan Beauty Snake once that reached nearly 8 feet in length, but never had anything on this guy for total weight)

haha I had gotten 4 triple het burms and thought I had all males, so I got rid of 3 and kept one. Thinking it was still a male I named him Bruce LeeRoy because every redneck that has a snake either has a burm, redtail, or ball. And after about 10mo old I found out bruce was a girl lol after a quick probe just to make sure. I still keep her name bruce, it's just stuck to her lol

I was so close to picking one of these up from the local pet store today. It was a gorgeous baby. I came home and did some research and it seems like they loose a lot of their color as they get older... Maybe I am mistaken. Please inform me so I can still go back and get it! =D
