Comments:	Alexandra was my first Leopard gecko. I bought her from Petsmart after I moved to Arkansas in 1999. Named "Alex" at first, her name was changed to Alexandra when she was old enough to be accurately sexed as female. Shortly after acquiring Alexandra, I got Pip Squeak, and the two got along great. I'd often find them curled up together in their cave. Being inexperienced and knowing nothing of the risk of impaction when I got her, I trusted the old books I'd read (and the marketing ploys of a certain "calcium enriched" product) and unfortunately thought that sand was a suitable substrate for geckos. I believe this error, combined with the fact that my mother wasn't feeding her enough while I was away at college, was most likely the cause of her early death in late 2002.
