My Reptile Interests
|
|
I've worked with a variety of reptiles since 1996 in museums (The Academy of Natural Sciences in Philadelphia, PA and then The Museum of Discovery in Little Rock, AR). I also had the honor of getting to docent at the Little Rock Zoo for a short period of time during my senior year in high school before going off to college. My parents weren't very into reptiles but let me keep a box turtle and some anoles as a young child. I tried bringing snakes home, but unfortunately my mother wouldn't tolerate anything legless so I had to donate them to the museum where I worked. After moving to Arkansas in 1999, I adopted a mature Sudan Plated Lizard which I had for another nine years before he passed. I also got my first Leopard Geckos soon after, and still have Pip Squeak after all these years . I worked in a small local pet store for awhile, where I was the Assistant Manager and also held the titles of "Canine/Feline Nutrition Specialist" and "Reptile Specialist". I recently left to pursue my own interests. I currently focus mostly on Ball Pythons and Leopard Geckos, but also have some other random reptiles here and there for fun and side projects. Besides keeping herps, I love going field herping. One great thing about living in "The Natural State" is we have lots of beautiful trails to explore. I'm also very active in my local herp society, and was recently elected Secretary.
