Comments:	This guy was produced in 2008 by Chris and Sheila McQuade of Gulf Coast Reptiles. The founder male produced his first 2 litters in 2007, and roughly half of each litter carried his "hypo" trait. It was thought that the gene may be dominant or codominant. The first successful hypo x hypo pairing produced only 3 offspring- 1 normal, 1 hypo and 1 black eyed leucistic. This leads me to believe that this trait is a "marker" for animals heterozygous for leucism. A similar gene is present in Burmese pythons, black ratsnakes and some others. GCR will not make any claims to the genetics until more leucistics are produced, but we are very excited about the possibilities, and we're trying to acquire an adult hypo female for this boy. He is currently breeding a colored GCR female.

Very cool! I have a 2008 male from one of Gulf Coasts "hypo" litters too, but mine isn't a hypo. Let me know if you find a hypo girl and how that breeding goes! I'd love to hear more about this project.
