Posted by Abbo at 3/11/2010 11:17:13 PM

Well this morning I received 3 adorable little Kenyan Sand Boas in the mail :) Here they are! They are named accordingly to go with my cereal theme...

Fruit Brute, Paradox Albino 66% het Anery (Snow), weighing in at 9.1 grams.

And a size reference in my hand :)

Honey Bunny, Paradox Snow weighing in at 10.6 grams.

Another size reference.

Crazy Cow aka Moo, Anery 66% het Paradox Albino (Snow) weighing in at 12.8 grams.

and a size reference.

I think they are just tooooo cute for words!

Has paradox been proven recessive?

So cute, i thought i was going to have some last night but she is resting again.

Nate -

Paradox Albino is a recessive trait that is proven. There are two strains of albino in KSB's - Albino and Paradox Albino. They are not compatible, so if you breed the two together you will produce double hets for both strains. At least that is how I understand it :)

Ohhh, and good luck to you!!!

Just curious since paradox doesnt seem to be recessive in any other species that displays it, so far as i know anyway.

Nate - yep it is a proven recessive and the only known paradox albino mutation that is inheritable. You can read proof on VPI here :)

Thanks Dawn :) They are too precious! and unique little critters... Very different from any other snakes I've kept. They are so funny with their little personalities.

What about whitesmoke ball pythons?  I don't know a ton about ball morphs cause I don't really liek balls too much but I thought that was inheritable form of paradox?

Abbo ,

Ken - the Whitesmoke has been renamed Coral Glow, or Banana. It is a dominant trait, not sure if it is a true albino or what but it is an interesting trait :)

Yeah I knew they called it the other stuff but it is inheritable form of paradox right?  I mean I may have missed something maybe someone who is really into balls can chime in there.  It looks an awful lot like the kenyan form or kenyan hybrid form or whatever you want to call it.

Abbo ,

Not all Coral Glows have the black specks, but you may be correct. I think I read somewhere from VPI that it is an inheritable form of paradox... Yep, here it is:

www.vpi.com/galleries/images/453
So I guess there are two types of inheritable paradox in the reptile world ;) I'd say the Coral Glow isn't as obvious though... Since they are only freckles, not patches, and not all of them show the freckles.
