Slow-Mo or High Speed? I forget which.

So I finally got a new camera - the only stipulations being - it must have high speed video capability to record my guys striking (totally fascinates me), it must have a really good macro mode for close up pics of my guys and it mustn't cost the earth.

I settled for the Casio Exilim EX-FH25 which was only £355 ($556) and can film at 1,000, 420, 240, & 120 frames a second for video and 40 frames a second for photo and also has a 'super macro mode'.

The 1,000 fps video needs a lot of light to film in and the picture size is very small, but it does the job, although it's quite hard to get the snake to strike in the small letterbox of filming space too.

I've posted a couple of quickly put together strike videos on YouTube to test it out, the lighting and quality is pretty poor but I'm getting some additional LED lighting for indoor/night filming and will try to film in daylight/sunshine next time to boost the quality.

Loki is getting a little pudgy so I'm going to extend the gaps between feeds - he should be suitably hungry for a blisteringly fast strike which I'll film in daylight hopefully.

Just from watching Mythbusters entirely too much, I think it's high-speed.  Whichever it is, DAMN.  Nice grab Loki!

Mythbusters - if there's a better show I don't want to know about it ;0)

I'm Feeding Loki tomorrow on his new 10 day rota - snow forcast but hoping the sun is out enough for some good day light filming (indoors of course) :0)
