My Reptile Interests
|

So as far as my interests are concerned, lets just say mostly with GECKOS! I do enjoy Ball Pythons quite a bit and of course almost anything obscure. My tastes vary here and there, but one thing that has always been the greatest has been geckos hands down!
So iHerp asks, "How long have you been keeping reptiles?" Well, in short 23 of my 27 years alive! It all started back in 89' with a hatchling Eastern Painted Turtle and it's all been down hill ever since. I'm sure a few of you are able to relate! I bred my first reptile -Northern Brown Basilisk- at age 14, then I bred Leopard Geckos for the better part of 12 years. I've also bred a number of other gecko species, frog species, snake species, and even Jumping Spiders! So I like to think that I'm well rounded.
I've professionally worked with herps for the past 15 years. I've worked with breeders, wholesalers, pet shops, private collections, zoological collections, and I even helped the Army with some of their snakes (dietary and skin problems)! I've been a very lucky individual and have had many wonderful and exciting experiences in my time. The thing is, I'm just getting started!
I field herp when time permits. However I must admit that I hate herping alone, I would much rather share in the experience with a friend or my girlfriend. Besides, if anything crazy happens you always need a witness lol!!!

Other Interests

iHerp asks, "What do you do for fun outside of reptiles?" Wait! You mean there's MORE than just reptiles?! Geez! You mean to tell me I've been living under a rock all this time with snakes and geckos and have yet to experience more?!?!?! Aw HELL! Just kidding! My life does indeed revolve around reptiles in fact. I do however enjoy collecting native "nano" fish to keep. I also enjoy gardening, yes gardening. I love growing veggies and some flowers when I'm able to have a garden. I love to eat and share what it is I grow.
I also enjoy reading, drawing, painting, writing, sleeping, and educating the public about our wonderful world!

Bands? Hmm...I'm kinda old school for the most part. Led Zeppelin, Canned Heat, The Who, The Rolling Stones, some Beatles, The Doors, The Grateful Dead, Johnny Winter, Arlo Guthrie, Jefferson Airplane, you know stuff like that. Then of course I have tastes that are part of today as well lol. The White Stripes, The Reconteurs, Primus, Cage The Elephant, The Avett Brothers, Mumford and Sons, Edward Sharp and the Magnetic Zeros, Of Monsters and Men... I just love thoughtful lyrics. Something most music today lacks very much of! I also enjoy Dubstep...yup, I said it, DUBSTEP! Gotta break loose sometime...

Geez, I can't say I have a favorite movie, there're just so many great ones out there. I guess my favorite actors would be Cheech Marin, Tommy Chong, Robin Williams, Johnny Depp, Robert Downey Jr., Tom Hanks, I have many more but actors names isn't really something I keep up with and I tiared of using Google to help me figure it all out...

Currently I am finishing up school at Florida Career College for the Patient Care Technician program and I will be a licensed Phlebotomist in a few weeks! Once I get some more capital under my belt I will slowly work my way back to owning a reptile business in hopes of working for myself again one day...
