My Reptile Interests
My wife and I run Charleston Critters Rescue (critters-rescue.com). We are a non-profit/donation funded company concerned with the safe rescue of any animal, but specialize in the safe capture of reptiles. We're on-call for Charleston DNR and most of the local police departments of the Low Country for nuisance gator and venomous snake rescues. We also provide a safe-haven for no longer wanted or abandoned reptiles until we can find them good homes. So you can never tell what herps we have or how many from one day to the next or what else you'll find in our managery. But we have had a 9'-10" bull alligator leashed to a tree in our back yard; an extremely large & fat monitor lizard (who needed to go on a diet), a one-winged Canadian Goose we nursed back to health before we released it to a safe location were it could become a "Damned Yankey"; and several baby male African Goats that drove our neighbors crazy with their constant bleating. We're members of the Low Country Herp Society and actively involved, at loacal, State and Federal levels, in maintaining our right to keep herps as pets. My wife is affectionately called a "Snake Whisperer" because of her inate ability to "calm" snakes. Before witnesses, she has walked through venomous snakes in a serpitarium and calmed their rattling tails by merely her presence. Recently at a local Repticon show, in front of a crowd of witnesses, she calmed a striking White Cobra that was injuring itself in its glass cage, to the amazement of everyone watching. She is the only person I know who has "free-held" a varity of snakes and never been bitten.
Other Interests
We're a family of volunteer firefighters - and, yes, we consider this "fun". It's a "Calling" for us and just as much a part of our personalities as our names.

WE also own and operate Chazers Security Agency. Our service is primarily concerned with Fugitive Aprehension, Personal Security, and Property Conservation (a more sophisticated form of "Repo". We don't have repo trucks that we swing in front to snatch and take away your delinquently-paid car. When we're hired to go after property, whether some type of vehicle, ship, or aircraft, we have a KEY in hand for its operation and documentation for its retrieval.) And, yeah, we do this for "fun"!
Anything else?
We're also a family of Libertarians, who steadfastly believe that our founding fathers knew exactly what they were doing when they designed and ratified the Constitution of the United States and the Bill of Rights. I'm a Veteran of both the US NAVY and ARMY, so I still honor my pledge to protect the Consitution from enemies both foreign and domestic. We profess a love of God and Country and I believe our homes are our castles, the right to do whatever we want behind closed doors (as long as its not hruting anybody else), freedom of speech, religion, the right to keep and bare arms, and the right of self-determination (as long as it is not hurting anybody else), without fear of governmental intrusion. In this family, we don't believe in the Patriot Act, of a government that's all things for everybody, the IRS and taxes, or the US as International Police. And while we support our troops, we don't believe they have any business being where they are for the bullshit reasons they are there! For us, the right to life is God Given, whether it be man or animal and the sanctity of life should never be taken lightly!
