Q: Red Tail Aggression.

My male bcc has become really aggressive since ive began breeding him with the female,  to the point where i cant hardly touch him and the times i do get a hold of him he bites. i figure this has something to do with the breeding, maybe protecting the female or stress. just wondering if there are any other factors causing this or your opinions. Thanks.

the female may also be aggressive so unless you wanna get tagged i would just let them be. I just got done breeding a BCI pair at work and they were the same way. both were very well behaved but once they started mating they both got aggressive and these were 9 and 11-year-old boas. he should chill out again

this is pretty normal. Some breeders place males with other males right before breeding and let them "wrestle" a bit.  I dont really agree with letting the boys fight but some say it helps prepare them to breed or will cause unwilling males to give in and mate.  I did read that this male agression isn't very viscious but as I said I wouldnt advocate it. I think that this behavior is pretty common male behavior throughout the animal kingdom. I was at the club this weekend past and it seemed the males there got more agressive as breeding became an issue. :) haha
