really? Ive never seen anything like it. its normally yellow or white for mine. i even poked around online for like 4 hours trying to find some kind of norm or explaination and found nothing

When you take a crap, it comes out different colors does it not, depending on what you consume.
Crap comes in various shapes, sizes, colors, smells, the only times id be worried is A; If theres blood, or B: If the snake prolapses

this was a legit question...humans dont crap urates, and snakes dont consume anything different from a rat to a mouse or a rabbit, it should be consistant. this time it was different and it alarmed me. is that so bad? shouldnt that be the responsible thing to do? check it out to see if theres something wrong?

you don't necessarily need to quote me on this, but I think the green "urates" are usually chalked up to being bile salts

um.....my points the same Iashia.
you eat lots of green your CRAP or URATES will be Green (crap and urates is the same word....)
Same goes for Carrots, with orange, ETC
uh your inexperience is showing! You feed them a diet of black rats chances are youll have DARKER urates.....feed them diets of mainly white things, chances are itll be white....
As I said the only two colors that would freak me out would be Blood/red or Pink/as in prolapse.
Glad to know theres someone close to me who will put my snake poop in there hand and take pictures for me next time I need some taken!

Iashia, Wash your hands girl! HEHEHE I do it all the time tho! Welll when Wrong Turn decides I'm his personal potty I think thats about the same. But Uhmmm I have to go with Amarilrose. I read somewhere that the urates can turn a green tint do to bile salts, or bile build up or something. Check it out and like AR dont quote me. Im a newb still remember?!

I looked up some info on bile salts... ya know, with Google. There isn't much helpful info out there. It must all be in some obscure text books that I don't really want to find that bad. ;) Anyhow, there was this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bile_salt
In that entry it says: "Bile acids are steroid acids found predominantly in the bile of mammals." So my guess would be that if nothing else, what you are seeing could be bile salts from the mammals your BP consumed. It's a guess. My initial thought was that it would be a by-product of protein digestion.

I've been keeping for a few decades and wouldn't be alarmed by this. I think it's human nature to be hypersensitive to all things, in regard to our newest captives. I would chalk it up to that. Also how long had that sat in the cage before you saw it? I could have dried or reacted with the substrate or humidity. LIke I said I wouldn't worry, just monitor this animal for abnormal behavior.

okay. i still sent it in for a fecal, one, because its a new snakes, and its a good idea anyways and two because its fairly cheap and i want my baby to be healthy =) thanks guys
