Q: What type of Carpet Python do you think this is?

Hey guys :)  So, I got this big kid in this evening, and was wondering what you all thought.  I was told she's a Coastal CP, but I was thinking she also looked as though she could have some jungle intergrade? I know there's no definites here, I was just curious what you all thought.  She's close to 7 foot, and could easily take a XXL rat - so she's not a tiny thing :)  Thanks!!

I don't know Carpets well enough, but it did strike me that your new gal looks mighty yellow for a coastal... whatever that's worth.  :)

Definitely not pure, but I don't think she was crossed with a diamond, i think she has a small percent of jungle blood in her, however, theres no way to know unless you get parent pics, and can start tracing her back to figure out what she came out of.

Regardless welcome to the addicition that is Morelia Spilota

Looks like a Coastal intergrade to me as well :) I'd lean toward Jungle in a small percentage but I can't say for certain of course. Very beautiful snake!

It's possible that it's a pure coastal (just look at my Gnowee, she's very yellow) however not knowing history on her, she could be anything. Do you have an idea on age? The older she is, the more chance she's a pure coastal as the breeding between species wasn't all that common 8 years or so ago.

She's still pretty though, that's all that matters. Looks like she's about the size of Wally..

hey mr. thats not very nice! im going to feed you to my sasquatch!

Honestly jeremy id say its a coastal crossed to a coastal that was crossed with a jungle diamond previously...so its like 75% coastal and only 12.5 on both others just enough to give it a
different appearance.

I hear Jeremys avatar taste great for certain carpets feed her midgets!

yeah well BLAH Id say its 100% pure carpet, with a high chance of being a pure mutt that i am sure you will love and will hook you to find other carpets you want!

I doubt that animals pure Deb, your coastals are smoking coastals! Linebred beauties that blow away other coastals, without knowing the history or anything theres simply no way to tell, label it a mutt, keep it and love it and buy more...welcome to the sickness that is morelia

lol - thanks guys - pretty much what I was thinking :)  As far as age, I'm estimating her at 9-10 years old.  She was given to a friend of mine, and that person said he'd had her for 7 years, and was about 2-3 when he got her.

As far as feeding goes... well, she doesn't care for rats... seems she's been fed exclusively guinea pigs for the past few years... so, yeah... this should be fun

If she's that old, I'd say more likely to have jungle in her due to the size. Coastal girls tend to be bigger- my 4 year old is probabably pushing 8.5 ft, if she'd ever let me get a good pic to measure her..
Probably a mutt but could be a pure coastal, who knows? Its hard to tell. :P

She is simply a very beautiful and very fun to hold Carpet python, and I am 5' nothing and not a little girl and she can wrap once around my sholder area and still touch the floor if she wants to. Her colors, in person, are beautiful and not quite as "yellowed" out as the pics look. Not that any of this is going to be very helpful, I just had to talk cause I held her and think she is wonderful.

That's what is funny about carpets these days.  None of the "Coastals" look like coastals from 20 years ago.  So many people cross carpets ssp. it's screwed everything up.  I remember when you would see silver and black coastals that would average 8-10'  Now they all have yellows, browns, and bands....not typical of the old days.
