Q: Switching from chicks back to mice

My jungle carpet python has fed on F/T mice for his whole life 1 day i decided to feed him a F/T chick. now he refuses to eat mice and will only eat chicks. how to i get him to go bak on mice?

I have heard some snakes will do that, try scenting the mice with the chicks, maybe lengthen the time between feedings by a few days, let us know how it turns out.

Ha ha, sorry but I have had this happen so many times...just keep offering the original food item and if you do scent do it very lightly like just on the mouses nose or butt. I have not had one that refused to go back to its original rodent over time. (*except a WC ball Python)

Make sure he is hungry. Skip not just a few days in between feeding but you can skip a feeding if needed, even two, without problems as long as the snake is healthy and at a good weight. I have seen this so many times with ball pythons and it just takes them some time to switch back. The snake is stubborn and wants to be spoiled :)
