I use eco earth and sand and you'll be able to tell because she'll start clawing at the glass and pacing.  Seperate the male and female if you've seen them tie up several times though.

I actually just realised you are the same person who asked about the beardies before.  I thought you had already seperated them becaue of bullying?  Again if you haven't yet for whatever reason I would highly recommend you do so ASAP.

I seriously doubt that has anything to do with them being away from each other.  You may have had it too cold in the other enclosure or maybe it was too small or some other issue.  The one is fairly skinny andif they continue to breed or fight or whatever the situation is you risk losing one of them.

any change in environment can throw off appetite. its not necessarily because he wasnt with her anymore, its simply because its something new that he needs time to get used to. i have some that will stop eating for a few days if i so much as rearrange thier cages. anytime a change is made, especially major, expect them to take time to adjust. i definitely agree they need to be split up. him eating right away when you put him back with the female could simply be a sign of dominance, basically so she cant have it. happens alot when you house two dragons together.
