Q: Defecating DAILY??

I have a 3-y-o ball python who is an excellent feeder on one small rat a week, but is constantly defecating. Earlier today I cleaned up a big poo, and now, probably five hours later, the paper towels around her hide are wet and smelly. Her cage (AP) always smells, she's always covered in urine, she rubs up against the glass and gets urine all over THAT, and I'm getting fed up with it. I'm going to start by slowing down her feeding schedule (she's getting to be a big girl anyways) to every 10-14 days, and I'm going to switch her to aspen to absorb more so that it doesn't seep into the corners of the AP cage... I'm wondering if there might be some underlying problem? None of the other snakes have ever gone more often than once or twice a week. Is there anything else I can do to stop this neverending mess?? On a happy note, I'd just like to give a big shout-out to my big baby Cu, who is, as we speak, officially ending her seasonal fast. :D

Have you double checked the cage temp? Perhaps it's a little too warm? Dropping it a couple degrees might help slow things down some.

daily urine isn't too surprising but daily feces? I second checking temps...should be mid 80s 84-cool side/ 88 -warm side otherwise doesn't seem to be a big worry unless you see runny poo...then you need a fecal check.

snakes can also have the same things we get - aside from parasitic infection, excessive urination would seem to me to indicate a urinary tract infection or a kidney problem. hopefully it's just a minor, easily-fixable husbandry issue, but if you confirm your temps and it doesn't stop I'd get her to a vet. good luck with her!

The temps are at 80 cool side, 87/88 warm side. The temps do not fluctuate; she's on a t'stat. She usually just urinates frequently, not so much defecating (but she still goes a lot more often than any of the other snakes). The feces look and smell normal, but maybe I will run her in to the vet and have a fecal float done, just to be safe.

one of my bps had def/urate action on a daily basis for a while, i literally had like 2-4 weekly action tracks on him.  nothing really changed, timed passed, it went back to a weekly/biweekly action for him.
like us, snakes can get constipated, or maybe some indigestion which causes some more "watery" poo.  its not always a medical problem as some seem to always run to a vet (perfectly understandable) after their snakes poos too much or doesnt poo enough, eats irregularly (hunger strikes) or doesnt seem to shed all that often etc etc etc.; these cases are more frequent that some might think, i wouldnt worry too much about it unless it becomes a long term thing (think months).
im optomistic it'll pass, and everything will restore itself back to normal.  good luck!
