I bought her from a local pet store they got her on a trade she was sold as a 50/50 jaguar carpet python. I dont doubt them but the more I look at the snake the more I confuse myself. She wasnt cheap, I love her to death she is really beautiful. She only eats mice so far and really like higher spots in her cage. She is about 3ft with the girth of a nickel. I dont know if you can help me out. What is she exatly?
Thank You,
Matt Higdon

You got a normal Carpet mutt of some kind. Shes definitely not a Jag.
Id return her to the pet store that robbed you.
Look around next time, theres plenty of jungle jags and jags around on KS, Here, and Moreliapythons.
Carpets are great, I love them to death just too many people dealing with them that have no idea what there doing or what they even have.

probably a "jaguar sibling" coastal/jungle or just coastal
the jaguar gene is co dominant meaning when you breed a jaguar to a normal you get roughly 50% jaguars and 50% normals. The normals have a jaguar parent but do not recieve the jaguar gene

the first thing that comes to mind is maybe the "label" got misinterpreted. it looks like a 50/50 jungle. "50/50 meaning half black half yellow with the pattern, not 50% jungle. i also wouldnt say you got robbed, this is a nice looking snake that someone probably said looks like a jag and got everything assbackwards because they dont know. depending on how much you paid would probably decide on going back to these people. for a female that size you might find her on a classified for 250-300 bucks possibly more cause you were at a retail store.

Agreed with all of the above. You can't actually "know" everything that was put into it, you're just going by what the store said. And it doesn't look like a Jag to me, so I'm also thinking it could have had littermates that were Jag and this is the Jungle, though it also does look a bit Coastal. For Carpet Pythons it's best to get them from a breeder who can accuratly tell you what they are, not a store who mislabels and overprices everything. Right now, if you keep it, it will be an unknown mutt so you wouldn't even be able to accurately label the offspring, and that's what muddies a lot of things in this hobby.

Nope, not a jag but could definitely be a 50/50 jungle (meaning 50% yellow, 50% black). Without knowing who produced her all you can do is assume and guess. Regardless, she's a beauty and I'd be happy to have her!

I didnt mean i Got robbed just didnt know to much about carpets when I first got her. Wasnt really worried about it too much just wanted to know what i bought. They got her on a trade. So I am not complaining just wondering. I have an Irian Jaya, and a pure Jungle Carpet, I like her because she resembles neither one

Is that a recent picture? Because if she has yellowed out she looks to be an ij / coastal jag integrade but if she is still that dull color she is a jag sibling
