Just curious... what is the average gram weight that a 2007 male ball python should be at?

that's a really hard question to answer, as it all depends on how much/often they've been fed. Some are great eaters, some are slow starters, etc. I'd think that a 3yr old male would be pretty average at 1000-1500 grams - but then I keep my males relatively small.

See.... I just got a ball that is supposedly an o7... BEAUTIFUL... And healthy, but TINY. He weighs in at about 500grams. Hmm.... I fed him and he ate! Soooo.... I am not too concerned.. I was just wondering! If he eats well, he will bulk up. I am happy to have him... small or big.. he is AMAZING!

I have a male that is 10 years old and only weighs 457g! I have another male that is over 14 and weighs almost 1500. I think a lot depends on how well they are fed as hatchlings and how their metabolism was able to function according to their husbandry. Then again genetics can also play a part. My theory is that as long as the animal is healthy and free of parasites (and not breeding) that the weight/size is not so important.

For your particular male, if he eats fine and has no other health issues (ie; parasites) then there is no reason he should not be able to breed if that is your intention. Just make sure that he is able to maintain a good body weight and not spread him to thin with to many females.

Our male ball is dinky.  My boyfriend has had him for a little over 3 to 3 1/2 years n our female is catching up to him and we've only had her a year and a half n she was I wana say a good 26-28 inches.  I don't know on weight though.  Good question because I was wondering the same if our male is going to get much bigger.  He's a really slow grower and doesn't like to eat once a week...more like every three weeks.  Our male goes through weird fasting phases too.  Maybe that can get explained away in here or something.  Anywho..good question.

I wonder if it is just a male thing. It is just weird cause My male spider weighs 550grams and he is an 09, while the 07 I just got is only 480g. OH WELL... I am thinking it is like skinny dudes and fat dudes. Some just eat more... and some have higher metabolism? Well anyway... He ate a big ol weaned rat so I know he is an eater... I the owner before me said he didnt like to bulk up balls... I like fatties though!! So I am going to bulk him up. Safely of course. :)

Most of us that have breeder males keep them trim. It's partly a space reason for me and also the fact that trim males are better breeders than fat males (same goes for girls).

As long as your guy is healthy and eats, I'd say he's just fine :-)

Sounds good to me!! He definitely eats.. I guess I don't want him "fat", I just want him to be over 500 grams!! LOL. Thanks!
