Q: How do I use the lineage function on this site?

I am trying to add the clutch of corn snakes I just hatched out. Can you add them in a way that shows they are from a female in my collection? I think the lineage function does this but I am not sure how to use it. I get to the page where it asks you to select the dam but it gives me no options.

Normally you just go under the "My Animals" and it says "Add a clutch" right there. You can use your own code names (i.e Suma1.2010) or you can add it under a slot, like most people have "Boas, pythons, female breeders, male breeders" and show that this clutch came from " Y x Y". I still don't know how to use the lineage, but I use the "add a clutch" option when any of mine hatch.

Your female cornsnake will need to be in the iHerp system and also set to Public view. She will also need a reference number (not just her name). Once you do that, she should appear in the list when you enter in the lineage info.

Deb, im pretty sure ive enetered adults based on name alone. But the issue is that there are still some bugs in the system. At least, there are for me. You have to click the parent is NOT in my collection button, then you have to do a site wide search for the animal you wish to enter. And you have to do it for both sire and dam.

Thanks, Nate. I haven't used it since the last I heard it wasn't working correctly. I only glanced at it - thanks for clarifying!

Yeah, I'm with ya on the heat.
The lineage framework is there, but the links for the parents and backwards was removed due to some bugs.
It will be getting some deserved attention within the next couple of months.

Aaron, other than being a little backwards, ive never had trouble using it. All my babies have their lineages done. It doesnt bother me.
