Q: Crested Gecko Database?

So we are registered with the ACR for our cornsnakes. Is there a registry system for Crested Geckos as well?  Where do you get a reference number for iHerp for them?  Are reference numbers numbers you give to your collection so each one can be identified by something other than a name?  Is there a formal way of going about this or can you just do it as needed for your own collection?

If you click the 'manage my animals' tab, it will take you backstage to where you can edit info, lineage, tracking, breeding, and pics for each of your animals. Go to the 'general info' tab and click the edit button. This will allow you to assign your animal its own ID numbered, catered to however you want to make it understandable, or you can add the ID number provided (if one was provided).

Some people use ID numbers instead of names, some people use them to keep track of hatchlings easier, and some people do it because they see other people do it.

To the best of my knowledge, nothing exists for crested geckos.

I know of many breeders that have some type of number system set up to ID their animals, and when I buy them and put them into iherp, I be sure to include that within my own ID numbers.  I try to encourage anyone that buys from me or that I buy from to put their animals here so I can link them up in the lineage database.

However, nothing official exsists, which is sad.  It seems like a lot of crested breeders just don't care about lines.

I would love if their was a registry. A group of us should get together and start one ^_^

I think the smaller hobby breeders would definitely embrace it.
