Unsure about my carpets health...

So I just looked in on my carpet today. She's been acting a little off since we've moved so I related the way she's been acting to stress and changes in her atmosphere. But she's been in the process of shedding for longer than what seems normal but honestly I'm not exactly sure how long. She hadn't pooped on her own until I went to clean her tub out one day about 2 weeks ago and the reason why she pooped was possibly from me grabbing ahold of her too firmly when she was trying to get away. I'm almost wondering if that day had something to do with it. I wrote a blog about what happened so if you would like the story it's my most recent blog on my page. Anyways, I opened her tub a couple days ago and it smelled a bit ripe in there, as if she had pooped, but she hasn't pooped and her tub is totally clean. As far as her shed goes, she got her head skin shed but it took two days and she's still working on the rest of her shed. I'd help her but she wont let me touch her without freaking out. She looks wrinkled, as if she's been soaking excessively so I'm not sure if I upped her humidity too much to help her shed but it was weird because she went into shed so we didn't feed her, she sat for a week or so without anything and then her old skin lifted off of her scaled but she didn't do anything to pull it off. I just peeked in on her and I don't have a camera handy at the moment but I can get one after work and take some pics to post. I'm just confused because she hasn't acted sick at all, she's still really fiesty and until her shed was eatting weekly. So that's why my topic is a little scattered. I'm kind of lost and looking for suggestions. Like I said I'll nab a camera and take some pics this evening when I get home. Let me know what ya'll think.

How old is she? Have you soaked her in some warm water. A lot of times when a snake goes into shed you can smell ammonia, so that may be the smell you were getting. She may be dehydrated. Do you have a knowledgeable vet in your area?

You mentioned you moved? I would double check temps and humidity. Don't know how you're set up or moved from where to where but looks like snake is trying to tell you her enviroment has changed and it's not quite right? May have to readjust things for new place. Up here in the NW having to adjust as winter showed up! Hopefully it's that simple!

seriously, I'm with Lash. in Seattle in the winter, it's rain-rain-rain...not intuitive, but once the weather changes I have to go through a big increase in humidity and misting every year. I think it's because of how much it dries the air inside, to run the heat.
good luck with her, and hopefully she'll straighten out and be fine for the next shed.

Yeah, I was wondering mostly if the move impacted her. We checked temps on all our snakes and everyone's measure the propper ambient temp for their needs. But about a week before we moved they all got put into a rack system, which so far has helped everyone. But I could see where the sudden change in weather would put a beating on them. It's just her that I'm seeing the most, if any issues with at all. I totally left my camera at work so I'll have to wait until tomorrow to get some decent pics. I wont even attempt with my cell phone. I would have to scratch my head if she was dehydrated because I upped her humidity once I noticed she was going into shed. But she does look I guess you could say "wrinkly" as if she were skinny, but she's been eatting normal. I'll have to pullher out again soon and see how her personality is and if she seems anymore lethargic. As for a knowledgable vet, yes I have one. We live over an hour away right now but if things increase I'l def. make an apointment for her. As for age, she's an '09 I'm not sure what month she was born though.

Is she still "wrinkly" where the old skin has been shed off? Sometimes right before my snakes shed, they get a little "wrinkly" looking from the old skin being tight (I'm guessing that's the cause, may also be indicative of sub-optimal humidity + shedding in both our cases).

She may have neglected to shed that old skin. I'd set up a soak box in her enclosure and soak her in a few inches of water for several hours to see if it helps.

+1 gfx and Lash, soak a good long soak and then check and re-check temps.

It's not uncommon to see bad sheds once the winter months hit. I have a carpet going through a not so good shed right now.
I agree with the others about soaking. But I don't think it's cause for panic by any means. Not unusual.

What are your temps for her? I agree with Lash and GFX, make a humidity box or a box of warm water and soak her for a couple of hours. Is she still eating? I'd focus on making sure those temps were right and getting that stuck shed off her. Once thats good, dont handle her for a few days and offer her a nice warm meal. As long as her temps are good, and she's eating and gets all that shed off her, I think you're good. As long as any other symptoms don't pop up... Good luck! And keep us informed.
