Price Request: Cresteds
|
|
Price request on this pair of Geckos. Sold as a pair. Proven breeders, have thrown maybe 5 sets of eggs, guesstimate 5 years old, but can get more information if needed. Looking for a reasonable to the buyer price.
The boy has the full tail.

The boy you coulde maybe get $60-$70 for, Maybe $80 for the female?
She dosen't have the greatest crests from what I can see and dosen't have a very disierable color. The amles worth a little more because he has harli markings and a nice cream to him. His crests and structure are a little bit on the better side.
Honestly, The market is horrible for animals like this right now. If you do decide to sell you'll be sitting on them for a long time. Everyone has a gecko like this and all the newbies are breeding animals like this so theres more supplie than demand for subpar geckos. You'll have a better chance selling them seperate. I honestly wouldn't buy that female and breed her to anything but I would the male.
You said she threw out 5 sets of eggs but how many babys hatched out and lived? Are you able to provide lineage on these animals? Baby photos? Diet? All this info can help you better sell the animal.

No lineage. Both eating anything I throw at them including CGD.
Proven breeders. All eggs were fertile, most hatched, there's nothing wrong with them. I can't seem to raise babies, you can see the offspring on my Dead Animals page. Most (if not all) were pretty dark, but I don't know what you look for. :)
The market sucks for everything. Everything. So I'm looking for a reasonable "real" sell price. Not the "value" of the animals, I don't want to sit on them. I'd err on the side of fair to low, and as a pair since having one is as much work as having two. I want none work. :)

I'd say its worth somewhere between a months worth of rats & mice for your chondros and a new heat panel.
unless you market them as "iHerp cresties" which could potentially be worth much more. Do you have any photo documentation of them around your clay sculpture? or photos with the zombie finger puppets? that would DEFINITELY increase the value.

I gave the value so you could decide for yourself what you wanted to sell them for.
Is CGD there staple? No one wants to buy a gecko they need to wein off babyfood or bugs. If you want a real sell price that would move them fast the i'd say $120 for the pair.

I'd say $50-75 on the male and $75-100 on the female. Crested Geckos are so hard to sell right now, especially if they aren't super colorful, or full pinners, etc. They are just so easy to breed the market is flooded with them... But adults are easier to move than babies, so you might be able to move them quicker.

I would add my two cents and say my breeder friend gave me a male crestie because they had too many and they weren't selling. All you can do is set a reasonable price and cross your fingers. IMO $120 for the pair is reasonable, go $100 if you really want to move them. Accepting trade helps but I guess that depends on if you need anything.

From that pic of the female, it looks like they've got a pretty nice enclosure set up. You might have luck selling them with their enclosure to someone who just wants some fun, easy pets in a cool viv.

Oh, that enclosure doesn't look nearly as good as when the lights on it worked.
Will trade for female Boeleni. So $100 if I'm in a rush, or $125 if I'm not, and those would be considered fair market prices for these guys... yes?
I have chondros whose "fair market price" would be $450, but wouldn't really get anyone to jump at them unless they were $350 or maybe even lower. The economy has really hit every corner, I think the only things really selling are super cheapies or crazy expensives. The middles all swallowed up.

I disagree, I have no trouble selling my middle of the road ball python morphs. (co-doms etc.) There are some things that just go in phases like cresties. I know nothing about chondros or their market so I have no comment there. I also see a lot of "average" morphs of corn snakes being sold. People want something a little different than a normal but not super expensive like an uber-lava-plasma queen thingy (sorry Nate) The biggest problem I see and hear about is that people want to buy them but can't come up with say $450 all at once and it is real tough to trust people enough to be willing to take payments. I personally do a non-refundable deposit to guarantee the sale and don't deliver until paid in full. I understand that's probably overkill for a pair of cresties but could apply to a real nice chondro.

Balls are a convoluted economy all their own.
Thanks much for the input!

Did these guys sell for you? Better pictures of the female would help. $100 to $150 for this pair is spot on. Problem is about every third gecko on the market looks just like these guys.
