Considering a Woma, would like to hear from Woma owners
|
|
I'm planning on aquiring my third snake this year, and I've been looking into a Woma Python. I'm just curious to hear from Woma owners. I've only heard good things about them so far. :)

A Woma's temperament varies amongst individual animals - just like with anything. I have an adult pair, that I acquired as adults, and a 2 1/2 year old female. My youngest girl is sweet as anything, my male is perfectly fine, my adult female I wouldn't call aggressive, but if her mouth comes in contact with skin, she simply opens up and clamps down. LOL
I really can't say that the difference in temperament has anything to do with the age I acquired them either. A friend of mine got a female from the very same clutch that my youngest came from, and his had such an incredible feeding response - even to the point of trying to eat hooks, etc. I was / am amazed, how 2 animals from the same clutch could be so incredibly different!
As far as their needs, they have proved to be an easy keep - no feeding issues, etc.

+1 Sonja, same here with my two the male is super nice the female will bite if giving the chance. Good eaters and easy to care for, your fourth snake could be a Brb.

With my girl, I've always thought it may have something to do with them being a more primitive species - the lack of the heat pits, structure of the face perhaps more sensitive??

I acquired my guy as a 3 yo adult, and he's puppy dog tame (although he has struck and wrapped my hand/arm once and chomped my hand a couple of times, but that was out of being hungry and overzealous, not aggressive). He did have feeding issues, though. He was on live rats when I got him, and could not get him switched to f/t. After some trial and error, I found that he really likes 3 week old f/t quail, so that's what he gets, and he almost never refuses a meal now.
And I'll agree w/ the others: very easy to care for. All in all, a fun animal to have, for sure. :)

I've got an 09 boy who is the sweetest snake I own. I have seen very aggressive ones, but it seems to really depend on the individual. I would definitely recommend them though.
