Can anyone give me some quick advice or any information on what it takes to be a first time shipping through Delta dash? I have an adult pair of boas I may be needing to ship out. This would be my first time shipping thru an airport. Thanks guys!

There is a process to become a "known shipper".  There is a form to fill out on their website:

I've heard its kind of a PITA to become a known shipper for reptiles. I've shipped a lot of dogs, pups and ferrets through Delta Dash, but never snakes. The Delta Cargo people have been very helpful over the years, a very different experience from passenger reps. Give 'em a ring and see what they say about becoming a known shippper for reptiles.

Charlotte..... it's a big hassle..... I suggest just using Fedex..... it will be cheaper too probably......   is there any particular reason you wanted to use Delta Dash over Fedex???

It'll probably be easier to find someone sorta local to you who can use their account to ship via Delta. It would not surprise me if it takes several weeks for them to go through the paperwork and they may still deny you. I think you've got to have a minimum amount of annual shipments to even qualify with them.

Actually, it may just be easier to refund the buyers money and re-list them to include what, if any, shipping options you are available to you.  If you are not already an approved shipper, just tell him its not an option.  The process is time consuming and can be expensive.  You have to pay for a site visit, which now needs to be completed annually, and depending on your location from the nearest cargo facility, could range from $60 to several hundred.  If I recall, I am about an hour away from the airport and paid about $200 for the visit just before they announced it would need to be done again every year.  Delta was meant to be a back up option only.  I doubt I would every use it and am certainly not paying for another visit.
