Bruise on Upper Lip of JCP

My Jungle Carpet Python has a bruise on his nose. I am guessing it is from him rubbing the cage or substrate trying to escape. There is only a 8 in. diameter wire mesh at the top for light holding, but I guess any is enough for him to bruise his nose. The rest is rubbermaid plastic.
I wanted to know how to make it stop because he continually rubs his nose against the cage plastic and it pains me to see him hurt himself. I also wanted to know how to treat his snout. Thank you to those who answer my question.

Best way to treat it (and the most important part of healing it) would be to get him to stop. Either a larger cage or different type. If he doesn't stop, it won't heal. Other than that, a little neosporon on his nose will help a rub (not a bruise).

+1. new/different type of cage.
and if he's young (or even if he's older) he may be telling you he's hungry. while carpets often think they're starving to death, you might try feeding him more often with a smaller prey item. I have a Savu who rubbed her nose raw when I put her on a diet for her fat rolls - I dropped to every other week and she was NOT happy. so, I moved to something smaller and more often, and she quit rubbing her nose and let it heal. if this hadn't worked, I would've experimented with non-screen cage lids

You could try both a bigger cage and smaller more frequent meals. I would also check temps, too hot can cause roaming. I also recommend sulfadene rather than neosporin for the nose. Heals faster with less scarring.

Haha no he's fine with his eating habits. I feed him one medium rat once every two weeks and he doesn't accept anything more frequent. but thanks guys you really helped. Mostly likely I need to get him a bigger cage.
