despite me keeping the humidity in my boas tank at 60% her sheds still come out all ugly and i end up helping out and peeling it off her...is t possible shes a case in needing of higher humidity? i dont even bother anymore with that (keep it at 60% still) but i just shower her once or twice a week and she sheds fine(soaking doesnt even work) dont know why taking showers is the only way she sheds well...any insight on this?

Sometimes physical contact with large amounts of water just works better to loosen the skin. I have a female corn who only sheds perfect if i soak her for half an hour. If i just bump her humidity, she still sheds in pieces.

What has worked best for me is to mist daily in the cage starting when I see they are in blue, until they shed. Just bumps it up for a few days.
Also, making a hide box and filling it with moist sphagnum moss may be a good idea to try.

A couple of days after their eyes clear up and I know they're ready to shed I'll sometimes put my large constrictors into a Rubbermaid filled with water. After about 20 to 30 minutes you can see their skin just bubble and loosen up. They will peel back right then and there as I pull them out of the water. My big guys are even used to me helping them out and allow me to to peel back the skin at their mouth and they push through as I put my hands together around them holding the shed. I have a collection of complete one piece sheds.

yea i would mist every day..used to...and would but i recently just treated the tank with provent a mite ( few days ago second application) and i afraid to mist the tank because it might get rid of the provetn a mite or whatever...i am going to redo my ATB's tank cuz i mist i daily..and i have a feeling the PAM didnt do much because of it

i just need to find a way for the sphagnum moss to not dry out so quickly:P

Well based on the size of the boa in your picture, I would get a Tupperware-Type container with a lid, and cut a circular hole in the lid. She should crawl into it and the moss will stay moist for a fair amount of time.

Definitely bump up the humidity in the few days leading up to the shed. Soaking seems to help a lot of people, though my rainbow hasn't needed it yet. Do you have the temp high enough also?

another cool way to help with stubborn sheds is to take beaked moss or any available moss and place it in your snakes favorite hide, dampen the moss and there you have it!, your snake will lay and coil on the damp moss and this can tremendously help it shed i do this all the time for the snakes at my work
