When do you know your Boa is ready to breed??
|
|
When do you know if your Columbian / Common Boa (Bci) is ready to breed?
(I figured since the topic of breeding size has been asked about BPs, I'll ask this, too.)

I'm going with the rule of at least 4 years old, and at least 6 feet in length for the females. I suppose if I had a 6 year old female that was shy of 6 feet, and I was confident that she was in good enough condition, I would consider breeding her too. As far as the boys go, I would say 2 years and older would be good, but it's also important to match up size somewhat too - a very large female could injure a small 2 year old male pretty easily :)

I have heard lean and young males are the best and breeders have had sucess with males as young as 16 months
As for females 4 years and at least 10 pounds
Maturity and good weight / health are needed for the long process
