We just got a 2 month old baby hypo boa and it wont eat. We got him 7/18/11 and we first tried to feed him a pinky rat yesterday. So today we wen to the store we got him from and got a fuzzy mouse cause thats what they feed him and he wont eat that either. What can we do to get him to eat.

To verify... you just got him 3 days ago?

Give it some time to adjust to it's new home. It could just be stressed from everything. I would try again in a week with a FT hopper and maybe brain it if you feel it needs to be. Braining helped mine get started on feeding.

If you have only had him for three days there is still a chance he may be settling in. Since I can not see him, I am unsure what your definition of "really thin" is, and if it is urgent or not to get him to eat right away. I would not stress him by trying to force him to eat so soon after re-locating. Hopefully that is all it is, and your little guy should eat in no time. Good luck. :)

I would give him a full week since you got him before trying to feed him again.  I know with stubborn baby corn snakes braining the pinky (cutting the head open) helps sometimes (they like the smell of brains).  Even if he is really thin he should be fine for a week, and feeding him while he's stressed might just make him regurgatate.  You can also try jiggling the pinky in front of him (using tongs), worked like a charm with my snake when he was a baby.

give it time, it'll feed.  id give it 2 weeks acclimation period, but 1 week is fine too i guess.

I will agree with everyone about letting him chill out a bit and get use to his new place but he is tiny,  Has the snake eaten before from the breeder?  To me 45 grams is small at 2 months of age!!!

i let him chill a couple more days and sure enough he ate 1 fuzzy mouse i just hope he stays eating cause he is so small the breeder told me he lets all his boas shed and eat twice before he sells them but it looks like that might be all he ate.

The last litter I had the runt was 69 grams at birth. As long as he eats for you and seems healthy then that sounds great. Keep us updated. He is a pretty little hypo!
