Hey Everyone, I am new here . And I just got my first Mangrove Monitor.
I understand the husbandry and mostly feeding.
I am running along the lines for feeding for.
Crickets, superworms, eggs (on occasion), Snails, Fish, shrimp.
Now my question would be , whats a good amount for 1 feeding? (shes not quite 2 ft. yet)
and is there a rule of thumb for what to feed what days and what not to put the day after something else?
She was being fed purely crickets before me.
Any help is appreciated (Y)

I would recommend feeding it a diet of appropriately sized mice offered daily. To answer your question about what a good amount of food to offer each feeding, I would let the monitor eat as much as it will eat. Most likely one or two mice a day. If you want to feed it something else you can offer crickets but in my opinion they are not necessary.

I used to feed mine mainly a mix of rodents, shrimp and fresh water fish. Mangroves do love their seafood. As for the amount most monitors will stop eating when they've had enough. I have however seen monitors regurge when they've swallowed one too many large prey items which was more than they could hold down. You'd be surprised at what a monitor could swallow whole. This could happen especially with younger ones. You'll be able to see when it's belly gets full. After having it for awhile experience will show you how quickly it digests its food based on content, the amount of time it spends in a basking spot, husbandry etc. which helps in digestion. All this plays a role in how often to feed. For example you will find that it will digest seafood items such as fish and shrimp very quickly compared to rodents. Adjust your feedings based on this.
