My ball python just shed a couple days ago, and for the first time I noticed rainbow coloration on his skin. Is this rare for a ball python to have? It's pretty noticeable. Does this just happen after a shed? Thank you!

Not at all. I had a big female ball at one point who just SHINED in the right light. Like Doom said, almost any snake can have that iridescence in the right light. This is especially true for most boas and pythons, as they have small, smooth scales that are fantastic at catching just the right light to put off that "rainbow."
