Q:
|
whats wrong with my snake?
|
|
My ball python czar used to be very active, during the day and at night (Im a noc shift person, so if im not at work im most likly at home and i do watch him). Now this was when he was in his old, and smaller cage which he out grew. I put him in a bigger cage, 4long, 2 1/2deep and 2 1/2 tall, all he does is stay in his hiding rock. but he does cont. to eat, his temps are good, 70 to 80 gradient. I spray down his cage once a day for humidity. I know ball are very scettish, so should I be worried? or since hes eating i shouldnt really freak?

a little more heat sounds in order, but I just think he's happy where he's at. :)
constant cruising is not normal in my experience, remember they're secretive by nature... there may be an adjustment time for him, while he's unsure of his new surroundings, but sounds like he's being a ball

I agree that he needs time to adjust to a big cage and that the overall temps need to be raised.

I agree, more heat, hot spot should be 90. I would also add some more decor to his new home. Make sure there are lots of places for him to hide and feel hidden. This may help him feel more comfortable. I wouldn't worry too much if he is still eating, that will be the biggest indicator that he is unhappy.

Don't worry if he's not active. BP's are commonly referred to as "pet rocks" because they tend to be very sedentary. The fact that he's still eating is a good sign! Everyone has given you good advice on temps and tank furniture :)

Feel free to follow up in a few months on this question and let us know how things are going. These things are great for people having the same problems.
Cheers!
