i want to know if it is possible to get pied ball pythons from scratch and what it would take to get one if done from scratch.

In order to make pieds, you need either a pied and a het pied, a pied and a pied, or a het pied and a het pied. The pied gene is recessive...

im talking from scratch as in no het and no visiable morph. from scratch. if its not possible to do it without having any het for pied or visable pied then all i need to know is that.

Getting morphs has to do with mutations in genes that can be passed on to offspring. Any morph starts out as a mutation in an egg or sperm cell that results in mutated offspring, and the mutated offspring have to survive to reproduce to pass the mutation on. The mutation of genes is such a random process and there are so many ways it can go wrong, and so many other ways that it can end up having no visible effect, there is nearly no way to even estimate the odds of having a series of normal ball pythons result in a non-normal. That's how it all starts, but it's not something you can control.

In short: Piebald is a heritable trait (and recessive at that) so both parents must be at least heterozygous (having one copy of the mutated gene) to have a chance at producing piebald offspring.
