yes you can use a green bulb all day. I see your using it on bearded dragons they need uva/b lighting during the day if you use only a green bulb its not good theyll sleep all day.

Keep an eye on your dragon and see how he reacts. If he seems restless at night, you may want to switch to something else. Personally, I like Ceramic Heat Emitters... They don't let off any light at all, so you don't have to worry about them disturbing your pet's sleep. They also last much longer than a light bulb... Only pitfall is they're much more expensive.

Like VJ said, make sure your dragon has a good UVB bulb, like ReptiSun 10.0 (should be replaced about every 6 months--make sure it's a tube, coil bulbs can cause serious health problems) or a PowerSun MVB (should be replaced every 8-12 months--this one is an all in one bulb: acts as your basking spot, too). It's vital. In addition to that, IMO, their primary heat source (basking spot) during the day should be one that emits normal light (i.e. a normal household lightbulb), not a "night" bulb like your dark-colored bulbs. Beardies seem to appreciate having a brightly lit cage with an appropriate number of hiding & shady spots. Too dark, and your dragon may decide it's nighttime or winter (brumation time).

So the Hubby and I don't roast to death at night by keeping the furnace on (and it has gotten quite cold here lately - western NC - WE may be fine, the snake wouldn't be) I have a ceramic AND a moon light (which doesn't disturb her during the night at all).  It's the purple one.  So long as you keep a close eye on the temperatures of your creature, they are fine to use all day and night.

The moon lights are actually quite beautiful to look at when it's night.  It's your own personal night light too so you don't run into a bookshelf or something!

As has been said, as long as it doesn't disturb their natural day/night cycle it's fine.  I've never used a green light.  I dont like the red ones, most animals Ive seen them used on, will act different at night with the red light on as compared to with it off.  I prefer the dark purple night bulbs as compared to the lighter blue ones.  I have a few I put on my beardies enclosures on the nights here in FL it actually gets cold enough to need one.  They sleep just fine.  And any time I've used them on any ssp of carpets they come out and cruise around at night just as if there were no light at all.
