How long should I wait to feed my newly arrived Borneo Blood
|
|
Hey, I'm new to the website. My Borneo Blood Python arrived today (pics to come soon) and I'm wondering how long I should wait to feed him. The guy I bought him from said he was fed every Tuesday, but I didn't feed him today because I wanted him to get aclimated to his new surroundings (and I was sure he would regurge). How long should I wait? Should I feed him next tuesday just continue his normal schedule from there? Thanks for your help and your time.

You don't think regurgitation would be an issue for next couple days?

A pretty good rule of thumb for that species is about 47 hours 8 minutes and 22 seconds... give or take a few seconds. But if he'll take something sooner (like within the first 46 hours and 29 minutes) then go for it! Its a good sign if they eat right away. Just dont disturb him after he's eaten.

It will either eat or it won't. Eating is a good sign as shows it's not to stressed or uncomfortable to refuse food. If setup is correct and you leave it alone to digest correctly it show be fine.

Welcome to iHerp... those two are such smarty pants! LOL
I generally end up waiting a couple days to feed after they arrive... I would just offer the next time you feed - get him on the same schedule as any others you may have or on a day that is convenient for you to make your life simpler and then feed weekly from there. There is no "need" for it to be precisely as the breeder had done it.
Congrats on your new arrival! Look forward to seeing a pic of your little one!

I fed my BP the same week we got him and he ate fine, either your snake will take the food or he won't, if he doesn't try next week, it's never good to offer them food every day if they refuse it once, just use the tracker to keep an eye on when he does/doesn't accept food. Good luck!

My Red Blood Python ate the second night. I waited the 24hrs because she had a very long plane ride to get to me and I wanted to give her some chill time.
