Q:

Halloween Crested Gecko?

I have this (probbably male) crested gecko that I've had for almost 2 months now, and he seems to be brightening/darkening as he ages. He is 7 months and 1 week old, and i am starting to think there is a possibility he's a halloween instead of a Choclate Orange harley. I'll enclose my four most-fired-up pictures, and tell me what you think! I saw some pictures online of a CG that looks just like him that is classified as a halloween, so i guess it just depends on the person, but please give your opinion! He is not black on the sides, just dark brown, but i think he might still pass. i really have no clue, and im not trying to say that he is, i just had a suspicion and i wanted some advice. The first two pictures are from 2 or 3 weeks ago, but the second 2 are from just a day or two ago.

I think where's it's dark area is, is too light to be a Halloween, Halloween's I've seen are almost black. Also when taking pics I would try to get your camera to focus on the gecko, it's focusing on the background, or to make it easy just set the gecko down on something for the pics and don't worry about getting so close, get them in focus, then if you want you can crop the photo.

Halloweens can be anywhere from a brown to a black for the base color and an orange for the markings. Page 24 in 'Rhacodactylus The Complete Guide to their Selection and Care' by Philippe de Vosjoli, Frank Fast, and Allen Repashy describes the morph as being brown and orange.

If that's what it says in the book, it's not how people view Halloweens on the fora/forums (however you like to pluralize that). Generally breeders see Halloweens as having a pretty dark base that tends towards black, which if it does conflict with the book, I would trust more because books are stagnant and fora are more fluid and contemporary.
Another thing with Halloweens is that they don't have any white bits, only black and orange, and it looks as if the mid-dorsal area and part of the laterals are too creamy.
The bright side is that Ginger is not full grown, so she could very well turn out to be a Halloween when she's full grown. It's really difficult to "morph" a crested until they're full grown since they generally don't finalize their colors until then

He's only 7 months old, but I don't want to wait any longer to know! Please just give your personal opinion about what he is right now.
