Q: Snake bruising?

In Relation To:

Kel

I've been giving Kel Fortaz injections every 3 days.  I noticed some discolored scales and was wondering if it's anything to be concerned about.  I was thinking it might be bruising, but I want to be safe.  I have a vet that she's going to that we can bring her in at a moment's notice, and I've also emailed the picture to her.

I put some betadine on it, but I just wanted a few other opinions.

Big Sarge

I guess bruising could be the cause. However, I once had to give an ATB injections (can't remember the medication) and my vet warned me that I could see "bleaching or fading colors"  of her scales.

I gave Fortaz injections to one of my albino BCI and he got some tiny bruses like that in some of the locations of the needle pricks.  His bruises didn't look quite as dark, but were roughly the same size and shape.  I figure my boa's lack of pigment and Kel's intense green would give each of their bruises a different tint.  I'd imagine that's what those spots are on Kel.  Poor kiddo.  Hopefully she's on the mend soon!

did your vet respond to this question?

I think your explanation of bruising may be valid, and I am interested in hearing what your vet thought.  :)

She actually never responded, but it went away!
