Q: How long until neonate carpet pythons shed?

What's the average time until neonate carpet pythons have their first shed? I've read that it's typical to feed after the first shed but would they take food before the first shed? It's been almost two weeks since they have emerged from their eggs and still no signs of impending sheds.

Though I have yet to work specifically with Carpet neos, I have had baby Boas and BPs that have gone as long as 7 weeks before their first shed. Most babies seem to shed around 2 weeks, plus or minus a couple days. I start offering food around two weeks and have had ones that eat before shedding.

I keep my babies pretty moist until they have their first shed. I house on paper towel and mist heavily daily or dumpa bit of water on the paper towel.

+1 to the damp paper towel!

I would say (from my limited experience of two clutches) that ~3 weeks is average. I had one go about 2 weeks and I think the longest was just over a month. you can offer, but they probably won't take it before then.
