Q: Baby Kingsnake escaped

So some time last night my baby Desert Kingsnake escaped for the first time. Overnight I left out a mouse and his heat pad but I had no luck and the mouse was still there. (He ate recently before the escape) I have a pretty big house and he is only a foot and a half. I do not know if he is still upstairs or downstairs. I have checked thoroughly upstairs and as best as I could downstairs but I have seen no sign of him. I have read a bunch of tricks on line and I lined my doorways so I will know if he travels outside of a room. I'm just very worried because I want to keep searching but I have no idea what to do. It's very frustrating not knowing where to begin looking. I just need some good ways to lure him out. I'm hoping I can resolve this soon as possible as I leave for college in about 3 weeks.

I hate when that happens! Best of luck finding it.  I've had 3 escapes from a carpet python and once from a juvi ball python.  The cat found them every time.  Maye you could borrow a cat and watch to see if it can find it with you watching over.

We had a little corn escape a year or so ago, and boy, I had thought I sealed up the snake room pretty well. I guess not. He was gone for about 10 weeks, then just showed up one day like "no big deal."

The small ones can hide in places you could never imagine. Search every square inch, even when you would think to yourself that it wouldn't fit, because they can.

Most of ours have been found within a few feet of the cage they escaped from, usually in warm or "confined" areas. Think like a tiny snake. Are there any piles of clutter in the room? Are there electronics that put off heat (most do)? If you use sticky mouse traps-- please remove them until the snake is found. We had one get stuck to a material similar to those. I got it off, but it ended up dying in the end. :-(

I had a corn escape once that was found 4 weeks later in a trash bag full of old clothes in my closet.

I had a BP escape that was found 7 months later in the junk drawer in the kitchen.

Point is, don't give up.
