african pygmy mice help?

Does anyone breed african pygmy mice? I have a colony and don't habe much experience...could use a little help.
How do you know when a female has a litter? Ive seen one pinky and I think the mom ate it. I just need to know if theres a way to tell if they are nursing. Also, should I seperate pregnant females? And has anyone had ones born with no tail? Ive never heard of manx pygmies so im wondering if the mom is chewing tails off.

I have no clue about African pygmy's But mixing powdered milk in with the food helps Normal Mice from eating their young
|

idk but with my normal mice [and rats!] I had a few baby munchers. You want to up protein and fat for the females. Not too much fat though. I give all my pregnant and nursing females scrambled eggs every couple of days to help them out and I haven't had any more munched babies! Girls get a little chunky but that's sort of expected from feeders.

With pygmys you can't look at the nest or she will eat them all...you will not know there are babies until they come crawling out. If you are breeding for feeder pinkies...then just check when you see the mom looking skinny again. Sometimes they will eat the tails when they chew off the umbicical cord. These are not super smart critters. LOL! And they are colony breeders so you don't need to remove mom like some other rodents.
