Q: Caging Manufacturers. Recommendations?
Posted By:

Looking for caging manufacturers in the US as I have recently moved from England and am pretty clueless about who's good, who needs to be avoided, who makes the best product and who offers the most competitive prices.

I am soon to be aquiring a 4ft juvenile burm who, for the time being I have a large tub for, but obviously, if she's growng at a normal rate, I'm going to want to get her insomething more suitable pretty soon. Besides her, my other snakes are all youngsters- a hypo x hogg boa, a jungle carpet and a blood python, all female- so I'll be in the market for enclosures that will do all 4 snakes as adults, eventually!

I'd be extremely appreciative of your recommendations! Thanks :)

Animal Plastics is good - Ali, APs customer service person, is excellent to work with.

I prefer Boaphiles but I have no experience with AP. I like the look of Boaphiles as well as the entire inside being seal and I have had several much older models that were in great shape. The same cannot be said for my old Constrictors NW cages. The service isn't great with Boaphile but I've found its easier to just call him if you have questions. Timingwise, I've had 2-5 weeks of wait with Boaphile.

Here is a crappy cell phone photo of my wall of carpet python cages.

Sorry for the giant photo, no idea why it did that.

Big Sarge
I have Boaphile and Animal Plastics cages both of similar size. Both companies have long lead times and are up front about that. I have had good service from the two. But as previously mention, Ali of Animal Plastics is outstanding. Both cages are good cages. Boaphile is preassembled; AP arrives unassembled. Animal Plastic uses thicker plastic and thicker glass. As a result, I prefer AP as my first choice in terrestrial cages.

I like both AP and Boaphile, but actually prefer the style of Boaphiles with the drop down doors - I guess I am personally just more comfortable and confident with those vs the sliding glass doors with my more "aggressive" snakes. I like the handles on the ends of the Boaphiles, too, so I can offer the prey and stand off to the side when I open the door. I have other cages with a drop down door but the handle in the middle and hate that!

Another thing to consider is weight... as a single woman, I can lift and stack the Boaphiles on my own several high. I can't with APs.

I really like the look of the Boaphiles ones! I will certainly look into both. Thank you all.

tmth: if you dont mind my asking, approximately how much did that set up set you back? Sorry if that's cheeky!

I just recently bought the two bottom 8 fters for $350 total. I took heat panels out of my old cages to stick in there. The 4x1 was a condo with removable divider and belly heat and the 4x2 has shelf and heat panel and those two cages bough full price at separate times from Boaphile. One of my chondro cages was used; the other two full price. I don't think I want to add up costs... X_X I'd have to look up prices on the website I think.
