Thermostat Help...?
|
|
So........... I need reccomendations as to what Thermostat(s) to get. Since I'm heating 4 ball pythons, 1 blood python and a carpet python, Im looking for something that can run 4 heat mats (set at the same temps for the ball pythons) + a thermostat to set the cooler temps bloods like and a Tstat for the carpet python who lives in a different set up away from the other snakes.
I've been researching but it all confuses me. I've looked at Vivarium Electronics, Herpstat, and Helix but I'm not sure which can handle multiple mats or which ones even work with heat mats
In a Nutshell: Need 4 heat mats to run 89-92 degrees. 1 Heat mat to run 86-88 degrees and another to run 88-92 degrees. What Thermostats can do that?

So you need to run 6 different things?
Get a herpstat 4 and a herpstat 2.

I agree with Cenobite. It's not cheap or easy to regulate more than one or two heat pads but it sounds like you don't have much choice without a system overhaul. You could do the Herpstat 4 (with 4 outlets) for your ball pythons, and go a cheap route for your blood and carpet by using Hydrofarm MTPRTC thermostats. They are $25-30 each and they are very basic with one outlet. I have five of them that I use for quarantine tubs and I haven't had any fail or malfunction, but I've only employed them for about a year.
Herpstat/Spyder Robotics are the best choice for safety; if they fail they turn heat off, where as many others can overheat and burn your snakes. I've heard some awful stories. I would consider it an investment but you have to choose what will work with what funds you have.

Sonja, All the heat mats are the same size and brand. I was thinking about getting a larger one for my blood python though since he's getting pretty big.
I Knew it wasn't gonna be cheap with this amount of snakes lol. Luckily I've found a few Herpstats 4s for $325 instead of $395

Herpstat doesn't care what you plug into it. Each outlet is it's own tstat. I have UTH's and RHP's of varying wattage plugged into the same unit.
Herpstat dont give a s***.
