Each week I have to buy a gallon of water just to keep the humidity in my jungle carpet python cage above 60. I have cypress mulch bedding, a dog bowl as a source of water, a 75watt indacescent (or however you spell it) bulb during the day, a 50?( or 75)watt black light during the night and a 10-20gallon terrarium under-tank-heater. I also have a twenty gallon tank and a 12/12 day/night timer. Please help so I don't have to use so much water.

If you're using an aquarium with a screen top, that's your problem right there. To keep the humidity in the cage, you're going to need to cover 90-95% of the screen with plastic wrap and/or aluminum foil. If you want to go one step further, you can go to a plastic shop and have them cut plexiglass for you to fit inside the rim of the aquarium. You then have them cut out holes for the heat lamp (if you need them) and drill some holes for ventilation. Glue that on the top using hinges and a latch and you're set.

The other choice is to purchase a reptile cage that is made to hold humidity and heat. Any of the cages by Animal Plastics, Reptile Basics, Boaphile, etc will do a better job than an aquarium.

How big is your tank and do you have a screen lid on it? A gallon seems like an awful lot so you're losing moisture someplace. Some of my cages will keep at 50 to 70 just from the water bowl without misting. If it is a screen top then try covering over most of it around your light to prevent the moisture loss.
