Q: Can weather effect a snakes appetite?

Quick idiot question from yours truly:

Does weather effect snakes feeding response at all? Some of my snakes haven't eaten in like 2-3 weeks and don't seem any bit interested. I tried feeding everyone again today but now ALL of them were just kinda like "pft, not eating that". I haven't moved them, haven't changed temps, don't handle them too often or anything like that so I'm not sure whats going on.  They've been using the bathroom too so I don't knowz

We've been having stormy/bad weather alot lately and I was wondering cause I know winter time effects snakes even though they don't feel the temp drop but so wouldn't their instincts pick up on this as well if so?

Maybe, they're all just going on strike at the same time cause they hate me,loooool.

They probably just hate you.

The new snakes you just acquired might be stessed still and its possible both your other snakes are in shed, but ive never experienced food refusal based on the outside weather.

They've both all eaten before though, the new ones that is. Like the first day I got them, then for about 2 weeks and now they've just randomly decided to be little stubborn shi*ts all together.

Yes and no, depends on what you consider "Weather". Pressure drops can do it, as well as ambient light depending on how the animals are conditioned. All my animals, both inside and out, will respond to darker ambient light, as they are all exposed to natural ambient light. If we're talking Ball Pythons, just chalk it up to them being Ball Pythons...............

Oh.....and uh.....Poop..........

theyre are definately sensitive to Barometric pressure- at least the species i'm familiar with.... I had some retics that would only breed during a severe storm - making hurricane season the best time on the year LOL............ I usually observe more activity when the pressure drops..... I would think that with the really horrible simulation our captive microclimates provide... pressure changes are one of the only "real" triggers left.....

Are they "horny teenagers"?  Some snakes will go off feed some when it's breeding time.  I have a male corn snake that often refuses food in the spring until after he's completely sure that breeding is over.  He just had a big shed and ate a huge meal, his first in about a month.

Nothing to worry about as long as everything else is good.  Snakes can go some time without food and be just fine.

Poop, ok I got it over with... I agree with the person who mentioned barometric pressure. I have noticed that my hogs wiil not eat before or during a major rain storm but after they are ok also my balls won't eat if there's thunder. I have rubber boas that seem to eat better when there is a storm and last but not least the black pine won't eat if it has been overcast for more than a week. I think that as long as you havn't noticed any other issues they should be fine and they will eat when they are hungry.

Or hey, maybe your rodents are afraid of storms and they are putting off fear BO so the snakes don't think they smell good any more?

POOP! I don't have anything to add, since everyone else stole my answer...but I did want to say POOP.
There, now I've said POOP twice; I mean three times!

Could be the fact that it is breeding season. Some males will go off feed and always be looking for a female if there is one around. Weather triggers breeding, and breeding/ feeding!
