Yeah, i saw. The vet said hes too small to risk surgery. You never said what the vets opinion on euthenasia was.

ya, thats what I thought as well. He hasnt been himself for several months, he would perk up every now and then. but he lost all his "color" and pattern, and stayed blue under his throat and sides(only do that when stressed or excited) nonstop. Just now, he really crashed. So I have a feelign it has been going for a while without me knowing...

don't euthanize unless the vet says there is 0 chance of survival, just because an animal doesn't look "happy" doesn't mean it will die, i got biten by a very healthy white lipped python the other day...he wasn't happy either.
IMO, ppl r jumping the gun way too much on euthanizing
IMO, one should only euthanize if:
1They know exactly whats wrong,
2There is no chance of survival, and
3The animal is in considerable pain

Joseph, considering how weak reptiles nerves are, and the fact that most of them arent very vocal, id love for you to tell me how you can tell when one is in "considerable" pain?

yes, thats why I am not wanting to euthanize, if he dies. .it's on his own time I think. He has already pulled through the near impossible with me once during my newbie years.... a miracle may happen again... I know when I hold him, he gains some energy and perks his head up , so that is a sing he still has life in him, other then that he is weak and lifeless... the only way he shows me he is alive is him blinking when I say his name. To me, he is fighting still..and it wont be over until he chooses to be. .. wwow, well i just answered my own question?? lol.

wow nate... are you feelling okay?? I tihnk it is obvious to a point when a llizard in the least is in significant pain... they squirm when they dont want to be touched in a painful spot, when they usuallyy dont mind etc...from my experience.

Not to speak for Nate but I think the point was you cannot gauge the level of discomfort the animal is experiencing. They can't rate it on a scale of 1-10 like they ask you at the hospital.
Therefore, it's a judgement call for the owner (you). No one can make the decision for you. Everyone has different feelings on life, and how it should end.
Seems like you answered your own question, the lizard will suffer to the very end. Hopefully my family doesn't share the same philosophy when I'm on my way out.

damn, funny thing is after reading that post, i knew u were goin to say that, Nate
well, what deadvenom said is what i believe would be "considerable pain"
extreme stress by showing darkened color(some species lightened), squirming in pain, increased anger(biting) is often caused by pain also, decreased activity can also be a sign of pain.

my point was that if an animal isn't in much pain, even if it is goin to die of a sickness, it shouldn't be put down.
Putting an animal like that down would be the same as putting you down just because it is a known fact the u will die someday.

im giving him longer, I wouldnt want to be put to my end for people not knowing how i may pull through...until they know 100%. I just checked on him, he's sleeping "peacfully" ina normal position.... breathing is normal, so it looks alright for now...
