I was wondering if anyone knew about what the average time frame is for an adult corn snake to go poop is? I really never have taken note on how long it has taken for any of mine to go poop after eating a meal but I'm just curious to know if there is an average amount of time that it takes for one to go to the restroom? Does anyone have an average time estimation? Let me know. Thanks! It's been almost 6 days since Diamond eat for me, she still hasn't gone...not sure if that is a big deal or not.

I would have an answer for you, but mine poop every day. Unless she looks uncomfortable or misshapen, i wouldnt worry too much. But, if you do decide that youre worried, soak her in warm water and let out for some real exercise.

Angie,
I would not worry about your Corn Snake. It usually takes a week to ten days for a Corn to fully digest a meal to the point of Defacation. If the Snake has not used the rest room for 3-4 weeks and you are feeding her every week, there might be a problem. The most likely cause of a problem would be that she is impacted, in that case I would soak her in luke warm water. By the way you tell a snake is impacted or ready to defacate is when she swells up near the cloaca if that doesn't pass she is impacted. If the warm water trick does not work you can try to massage it out yourself or take it to a Vet.

Temperature in the enclosure plays a roll in the digestion too and where a snake goes to rest after a meal. In the low end, a hot spot or hide. I notice this especially with my larger snakes but that's mainly because they um.....poop bigger. You know when they have defecated . Sometimes I wish they wouldn't go the the high end because they digest much faster, defecate and then hungry a lot sooner .  So the time can actually vary depending on prey size and temperature.

The one that I foster seems to defecate every other day and she is fed every 7-10 days, so I am mostlikely not too much help for you.

It takes my corns a LOOOONG time to go to the restroom...but that's because they have to escape first. LOL no really, colubrids digest faster than the larger constrictors. They seem to have a faster metabolism, the avarage for mine is 3-7 days depending on time of year and size of meal. My Black Pine seems to be the fastest...in one end and out the other I swear.

Thanks for all the wonderful tips and suggestions/comments. I just wanted to make sure that Diamond was okay.  The 3-7 day thing sounds about right but I just wanted to make sure that was about average for an adult corn snake.  I think it takes Diamond a little bit longer for her to digest her/his meal but not by to much longer. I think she does her thing about 8 or so days after a meal.

Thanks,
 Angie
