Q: Guestimating Age of Snake!

Does anyone know if there is a way to tell how old a snake is? I only have one snake in which I know the exact hatch date...! Thanks guys

The only thing I know is that once they start getting REALLY old, the skin gets thinner and they feel more ...brittle I guess. My 14 yr old ball python feels like that but the vet said he is fine other wise.

If it is regarding breeding, I don't think age is as important as general health.

Otherwise, it is not posssible that I have ever heard of beyond a general guess. Young, middle and old is what I hear.

no no nothing to do with breeding just trying to place ages on all of them....weight or length dont play a factor...i understand that feeding is a huge factor on that but i dont power feed and dont make them go with out a meal so, you know...all of them are healthy as far as I know....

I think we talked about this once before. The conclusion was that you had to cut them open and count the rings inside.

I laughed when I saw this thinking trees, then I found out thta that is how you tell how old frogs are!
