If you look at illustrations of how it was "back then" (judging from fossils) the plants are all giant, the bugs are all huge... I think everything is shrinking. Except for people, we are getting bigger. It's good to be near the top of the food chain, haha... Just my 2 cents. :)
Sucks about the ants though, some of those suckers are NASTY. Fire ants must be descended from bald-faced hornets, they'll sting you if you look at them funny.
