Q: How long to watch a new pairing?

Okay, so as my first official "breeding" season is nearing rapidly, I was wondering how long people generally observe the introduction of a male to a female's cage before "trusting" that no aggression will occur? I had a friend lose a very valuable Guyana when his female decided to strangle the crap out of the poor boy... that was after he diligently watched them for 3 days.  So... I don't want to risk injury to my boys!!

This year i watched my corns for 4 days. But that was also the length of time i left the pairing together. I guess i watched them for as long as they were together.

THat's always a scary time.......I never had boa aggression problems with BCC's and I used multiple males.... but as soon as one male went for for the girl...I took the other one out........................... breeding retics is a little more dicey...............I have this really aggressive wild caught male that I'm about to breed to my female....I'm kinda concerned......I don't think I could separate them if they decided to kill each other

I didn't watch more than a short while when I introduced my amazons.  The cornsnakes are only together until they hook up. Then when they are done, they are separated again for 3 days.  I don't leave them together. Sometimes no matter what you do, two animals can suddenly be a problem together. I know Kim Burge had a pair together for quite a while and then all of a sudden the female attacked the male and almost killed him.  I had no problems with my amazons at all though. I did separate for several days when I fed them.

I would watch every day, and cycle on and off every couple of days. As long as the temps are getting cooler in your neck of the woods, you will see the "courting" begin. If your female is an 04, make sure you don't put in a male that is too small either.
